Timoshenko Hold PR-Action Regarding Refusal in Registration: Ukrainian Political Scientist

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. A.Gasimova / The Bloc of Yulia Timoshenko (BYT) successfully made use of the situation regarding refusal by the Central Election Committee (CEC) of Ukraine to register candidates from BYT for MP post.

Central Election Committee of Ukraine refused to register candidates from BYT for MP post from 10 to 11 August at the upcoming Parliamentary elections. The relevant reason for refusal became absence of the document showing residing places of candidates. After refusal representatives of BYT stated that they would appeal against CEC of Ukraine.

"BYT made use of the refusal in registration and appreciates CEC's refusal as political ground to draw attention, to charge opponents with biliousness and to make an informative noise," Andrey Ermolayev, the director of the Ukrainian Centre of Social Research, considers.

According to Ermolayev, only one day there was to correct the documents.

"It is demanded to specify address, however the document envisaged only settlements, Ermolayev said. The documents of other candidates were registered right.

Ermolayev considers that refusal of CEC in registration of candidates from BYT at the upcoming parliamentary elections may has a political cause. "I do not consider that refuse by CEC has a political cause, it was revenge of BYT, which called for the President to begin elections without participation of coalition," Ermolayev added.

Yulia Timoshenko's supporters commenced protest action in front of CEC demanding to register the list of candidates for MP of Ukraine Parliament from BYT. Timoshenko threatened the members of CEC of Ukraine, who voted against the registration of the list of candidates for MP from the bloc. The bloc 'Our Ukraine- Popular self-Defence' backed BYT, and demanded immediate registration of candidates of BYT.
