Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / The Criminal Code of Azerbaijan included an article envisaging the responsibility for the illegal turnover of medicines.
According to the law and approved by the President, Article 200-1 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan envisages responsibilities for the sale, keeping for sale or export of false or overdue medicines, which have not officially been registered and do not meet the requirements of the normative-technical documents.
These crimes are punishable by deprivation of rights to certain positions or activities for a period of up to three years and a fine in amount of AZN 3,000 or AZN 5,000 or restriction of freedom for a period of up to two years.
The same action committed by a group of persons, which bring significant damage, is punishable through restriction of freedom for a period of up to two years and deprivation of right to certain positions or activities for a period of up to three years. Actions which cause death due to carelessness will result in 5-10 year imprisonment and deprivation of right to certain positions or activities for the period of up to three years.
In addition, an item was included in the Article 68 of the Code of Administrative Faults, which envisages the confiscation of certain medicines and a fine to the amount of 80-100% of their cost.
