The criminal trial involving Azerbaijan's former Minister of Economic Development, Farhad Aliyev, his brother Rafik Aliyev, former President of the Azpetrol Group of Companies, and seventeen other people, is continuing at the Court of Heinous Crimes presided by Judge Tofik Pashayev.
The attorney touched upon the accusations concerning $30,000 found on Rafik Aliyev at the International airport named after Heydar Aliyev in 2005. Customs officials furtively put $30,000 into the bag of R Aliyev. Information that R Aliyev wanted to take $30,000 onto the airline was not proven. The X-ray machine did not reveal the presence of the sum in the bag.
Farhad Aliyev is accused of tax evasion, misappropriation, extravagance and abuse of power. Rafik Aliyev is accused of tax evasion, attempts to initiate mass riots, coup d'etat and smuggling.
