Azerbaijan, Baku, August 20 / Trend J. Babayeva /
Azerbaijan's Minister for Education is guaranteeing security for people in secondary schools and universities.
"All schools and universities will be protected by the state. We have established close relations with law-enforcement agencies. I hope we will not have any problems with security in the upcoming academic year," the Minister for Education, Misir Mardanov, told media on August 20.
Neither the state, nor the Ministry for Education would want another tragedy to occur again in the Azerbaijani State Oil Academy, the Minister said. "I assure parents that their children's security will be guaranteed by the state. Security measures will be ensured in both state and private schools and universities," Mardanov said.
The minister did not name a concrete sum allocated for security by the state since there are 7,000 schools and universities in Azerbaijan.
A terrorist act took place in the Azerbaijani State Oil Academy on April 30, 2009. A 29-year-old Georgian citizen, Farda Gadirov, shot 12 people and wounded 13.
