Azerbaijani MP Hikmet Atayev died as a result of a traffic accident from his injuries, Director General of Forensic Medical Examination and Patalogical Anatomy Union of Azerbaijani Health Ministry Shakir Musayev told Trend on Friday.
Hikmet Atayev died in the traffic accident that occurred in Gazma village in Balakan region.
Son of the MP, who was also in the car at the time of the traffic accident, was taken to the Balakan region hospital. His health state is stable, the hospital said. The traffic accident took place when Atayev returned from Georgia at night. Atayev will be buried in Zagatala region.
Hikmet Atayev was born on Feb.4, 1953. He graduated from Azerbaijan State Medical University.
In May 2006 he was elected an MP from the Zagatala city. Atayev was a member of the Standing Committee on Social Policy of the Parliament.
