Azerbaijan forecasts current account surplus of payment balance in 2024

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 28. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) forecasted the current account surplus of the balance of payments in 2024 to equal $7-8 billion, Trend reports referring to the CBA's announcement on the key directions of monetary policy for next year.

According to the CBA, this prediction is based on a baseline scenario and accounts for 9-10 percent of predicted GDP next year and the current account surplus of the balance of payments amounted to $6.7 billion, or 12.5 percent of GDP, during January to September 2023.

The official exchange rate as of December 28 is 1.7 AZN/1 USD.

The data from the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan showed that the country’s GDP in the first nine months of 2023 increased by 0.8 percent compared to the same period in 2022, to 110.2 billion manat ($64.8 billion).
