Azerbaijan, Baku, May 2 / Trend /

The Azerbaijani Kapital Bank's plastic cards will migrate to a new processing system on May 5 in 2009, the bank said.

"Regarding a great number of cards and scale of acquiring system, the migration process will take several hours at the fixed date. In this respect, operations with plastic cards will be temporarily impossible," the bank said.

After the migration, the system will function at a normal regime.

Kompass company is engaged in forming a processing centre in Kapital Bank.

The project costs €1.29 million. It will be implemented through the bank's own funds.

At the initial stage, the processing will comprise service of Kapital Bank cards, but it is planned to expand access to other banks in future, as well.

From a functional point of view, it will hit opportunities of the current Azerbaijani processing centers by two times. [There are two processing centers in the country - Azericard founded by the International Bank of Azerbaijan and where Kapital Bank is served at the moment, and Millikart founded by 18 commercial banks].

Capacity of Kapital Bank's processing is 2.5 million cards and it will serve 550 ATMs, 200 information kiosks and 5,000 POS-terminals.

So far, the bank has issued roughly two million cards.
