Iranian national company of copper-smelting industry and Finnish Outotec Company signed the contract to construct a copper-smelting plant 'Sungun' with capacity of 200,000 tons of copper and 750,000 of sulphuric acid per year, Mehr information agency said.
Iranian deputy director of national company Ahmed Faridi and Finnish director of the head department of Outotec company Lars Helle.
"Iranian national company of copper-smelting industry is the only company in the Middle East. It will use Flash Smelting/Flash Converting system at Sungun plant. This system is the most modern one in melting of cooper," Faridi said.
He said that Iran will be the third country after the USA and China using this system.
Iranian national company of copper-smelting industry produces 206,000 tons of copper per year. It holds the seventh place in Asia and the 21-st in the world. "Production potential will increase up to 440,000 tons by installation of this new system," Faridi said.
