Iran, Pakistan agree on barter trade deal

Iran and Pakistan agreed on importing one million tons of wheat from the former under barter trade deal at prevailing price in the international market, Business Recorder reported with the reference to an official source.

An agreement was reached diring the visit of Pakistan's high level delegation headed by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research (NFS&R) Israrullah Zehri to Tehran.

Under the barter deal Iran will import one million tons of wheat from Pakistan, and in return, Tehran would provide fertilisers and iron ore.

Iran will start wheat import from Pakistan after one month.

According to the source, international fertiliser and wheat prices would be bench mark for barter trade deal between Iran and Pakistan.

Earlier Iran expressed unwillingness to import Pakistani wheat containing Karnal bunt or Tilletia Indica during a visit of a Pakistani delegation in April. Iran said that it could only buy wheat with zero per cent karnal bunt content while Pakistani wheat is of 3 per cent content.
