Kazakhstan to export up to eight million tons of grain this year

According to preliminary data on this year's harvest considering the carryover of last year, Kazakhstan will be able to provide the internal demand of the republic in grain and export about seven to eight million tons of grain in the current marketing year , Uzbek Vice-Minister of Agriculture Muslim Umiryaev told journalists on Friday.

"According to the preliminary data of akimats, the gross harvest stands at 14.8 million tons with a yield of 9.8 tons per hectare," Umiryaev said during the sixth Kazakh grain forum KAZGRAIN-2012.

Precise data on this year's harvest in Kazakhstan will be announced after the processing of official figures of the regions by the Agency for Statistics in late December.
