Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has adopted a resolution on the construction of the Karshi-Kitab high-speed railway worth $58.87 million in the south of the country, according to the document published on the website of the presidential press service.
The 122 km-long railway will be electrified after its construction in 2017-2018, the document said.
The project will be financed through equity of Uzbekistan Railways JSC in the equivalent of $18.58 million, Uzbekenergo JSC in the equivalent of $7.31 million, state budget funds in the amount of 50 billion soums (equivalent to $14.06 million), as well as a loan from the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan in the amount of $18.92 million.
Toshtemiryolloyiha OJSC and Sredazenergosetproekt JSC have been selected as general design organizations, while the structural subdivisions of Uzbekistan Railways JSC and Uzbekenergo JSC are the general contractors.
All participants of the project will be exempt from payment of customs duties, value added tax, mandatory deductions and fees to state trust funds until 2019.
