Azerbaijan reveals its non-oil export revenues

Azerbaijani companies exported non-oil goods worth $106 million in September 2017, according to the Export Review, published by the Center for Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication on Oct. 24.

According to the Center, 395 local companies participated in export operations during the month.

Excluding oil and gas, Azerbaijan mainly exported peeled hazelnuts ($23.5 million), gold ($13.9 million), methanol ($4.7 million), aluminum alloys ($3.8 million) and apples ($3.7 million) in September 2017.

A major part of the Azerbaijani products were exported to Russia ($27 million), Turkey ($16 million), Italy, Switzerland ($14 million per each), Georgia ($8 million).

In total, Azerbaijan exported non-oil goods worth $1,069 million in January-September 2017 and 1,582 companies took part in export operations.

The main non-oil product exported abroad were tomatoes during the period. Azerbaijan exported tomatoes worth $128.8 million, which is followed by gold ($81.4 million) and peeled hazelnuts ($62 million) in January-September 2017.

Russia ranks first among importers of Azerbaijan’s non-oil products. In the period, goods worth $366 million were exported to Russia, which is followed by Turkey ($223 million), Georgia ($99 million), Switzerland ($98 million) and Turkmenistan ($44 million).

The report says that the export of cotton fiber increased by 8.5 times, while export of export of electricity rose by 2.8 times, and export of fruits and vegetables - by 41 percent in January-September 2017 as compared to the same period of 2016.
