Ranking of trade partners: Azerbaijan increases trade with Italy

The trade turnover of Azerbaijan with the five main trade partners of the country reached $13.6 billion in January-November 2018, which accounted for 48.2 percent of the total trade turnover of the country, according to the report of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.

During the reporting period, Italy became the biggest trading partner of Azerbaijan with a trade turnover of $5.9 billion and a specific weight of 20.76 percent. It is followed by Turkey – $2.99 billion (10.59 percent), Russia – $2.27 billion (8.03 percent), Germany – $1.3 billion (4.7 percent) and China – $1.16 billion (4.13 percent).

According to the results of the reporting period, Italy remained the main consumer of Azerbaijani products, as it accounts for $5.5 billion (30.98 percent) of all exports. It is followed by Turkey - $1.5 billion (8.65 percent), Israel – $1.1 billion (6.16 percent), the Czech Republic - $820.26 million (4.58 percent) and India – $749 million (4.18 percent). The share of these countries in Azerbaijan's total exports is 54.5 percent.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan purchased most of products in Russia – nearly $1.7 billion (16.19 percent). It is followed by: Turkey - $1.4 billion (13.96 percent), China – $1.05 billion (10.23 percent), Germany – $583.8 million (5.67 percent) and Switzerland – $509.5 million (4.95 percent). The share of these countries in Azerbaijan's total imports is almost 51 percent.

In total, in the eleven months of 2018, Azerbaijan's foreign trade operations increased by almost 28.1 percent compared to the same period in 2017, amounting to $28.21 billion.

The positive balance in the reporting period was $7.6 billion, which is 1.6 times more than the figure of the same period of last year ($4.7 billion).
