Cash in circulation decreases in Kazakhstan

The cash in circulation in Kazakhstan in February 2019 decreased by 1.6 percent compared to the previous month, and by 5.5 percent since the beginning of the year, to 2.13 trillion tenge, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.

According to the National Bank of Kazakhstan, the M1 monetary aggregate, including cash and liquid tenge deposits, decreased by 14.1 percent last month (1.7 percent since the beginning of the year) to 5.51 trillion tenge. At the same time, the M2 indicator, which includes cash, all tenge and liquid foreign currency deposits, decreased by 6.5 percent (2.4 percent up since the beginning of the year) to 14.81 trillion tenge.

At the same time, the money supply decreased by 7.9 percent (5.2 percent since the beginning of the year) to 19.72 trillion tenge. The monetary base, or the money of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, in February this year decreased by 6.7 percent (2 percent since the beginning of the year) to 6.52 trillion tenge.

At the same time, the deposits of second-tier banks and other organizations in the accounts of the National Bank decreased by 10 percent (0.7 percent up since the beginning of the year) to 4.06 trillion tenge.
