A store selling Polish industrial goods is planned to open in Baku, Azerbaijan's trade representative in Poland Nemat Nagdaliyev told Trend.

Nagdaliyev noted that both the Polish and Azerbaijani sides are interested in it.

"Currently, we are establishing contacts between Polish manufacturers and partners in Azerbaijan. Presumably, the practical implementation of this initiative is planned in the medium term. Presently, this issue is at the level of discussions, as there is a serious interest of the parties, but so far there are no specific agreements between Polish and Azerbaijani companies," he said.

The Azerbaijani trade representative noted that the opening of some joint ventures in Azerbaijan and Poland is not planned, but did not rule out that this could happen later.

"Currently, about 20 companies with Polish capital are registered in Azerbaijan, including the areas of services and consulting, and sales of building materials and agricultural equipment. The number of Azerbaijani investors conducting their business in Poland reaches about several dozen people, mainly in trade and services," he added.

Last year, the trade turnover between the two countries, according to Polish data, amounted to 80 million euros, of which 68.3 million euros accounted for Polish exports to Azerbaijan.

Poland is the seventh largest supplier of goods to Azerbaijan after Germany, Italy, the UK, France, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.
