Number of enterprises with foreign capital in Uzbekistan nearing 10,000

The number of enterprises with foreign capital in Uzbekistan exceeded 9,700 in the first nine months of 2019, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee.

Official statistics show that their number in January-September of the current year increased by 2,772 entities or by 39.8 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to 9,732.

The bulk of enterprises with foreign capital belong to Russia, Turkey, China, South Korea and Kazakhstan, read the message.

According to the state statistics committee, as of October 1, 2019, the city of Tashkent accounts for 5,778 operating enterprises with foreign capital. The top three also include the Tashkent region, where 1,066 enterprises with foreign capital operate and Samarkand with 500 such enterprises.

The committee reports that 4,891 enterprises with foreign capital are joint ventures, and 4,841 are foreign companies.

The bulk of enterprises with foreign capital operate in industry (34.4 percent) and trade (24.3 percent).

Construction (7.6 percent), agriculture, forestry and fisheries (5.5 percent) and accommodation and food services (4.4 percent) come next with a large gap.

In January-September 2019, 2,511 enterprises with the participation of foreign capital were re-established in Uzbekistan. A significant part falls on traditional partners - Russia, Turkey, China, South Korea and Kazakhstan. Businessmen from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Germany and Ukraine also showed interest in partnership with Uzbek counterparts, the state statistics committee reported.
