Volume of wheat purchased in Iran's Tehran Province up

The volume of wheat purchased from farmers in the Tehran Province (northern Iran) has increased by 21 percent from the beginning of the current wheat harvesting season in Iran April 4 to August 31 compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director of Government Trading Corporation (GTC) of Iran’s branch in Tehran Province Abbas Arshadi said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s website.

Arshadi emphasized that so far, about 126,000 tons of wheat has been purchased from farmers in Tehran Province. However, more than 104,000 tons of wheat was purchased from farmers in the same period last Iranian year.

He added that 99 percent of the value of purchased wheat has been paid to farmers, so far.

The director noted that the volume of rapeseed purchased in Tehran Province in the current Iranian year has increased by 75 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Arshadi said that 3,348 tons of rapeseed was purchased from farmers in the province in the current Iranian year and all of the money for purchased rapeseed was paid to farmers.

The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set at 25,000 rials (about 59 cents), and of durum wheat - at 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020). The price of rapeseed is set at 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram.

Several products, including wheat, tea, rice, and other products are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee in Iran.
