Turkmenistan plans to purchase medical helicopters from Russia's Tatarstan, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

This was stated by Minister of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan Nurmuhammet Amannepesov to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during a working meeting.

During the epidemiological situation, Turkmenistan actively cooperated with other countries to combat the pandemic.

Thus, medicines and medical supplies from Turkmenistan were sent to Afghanistan, Iran, and Russia as humanitarian aid.

In turn, South Korea, the UAE, the Kingdom of Bahrain, Turkey, Japan, and the People's Republic of China supplied Turkmenistan with medicines and medical equipment used for disease prevention.

At the initiative of Turkmenistan, a number of online meetings were held with the Director-General of the World Health Organization Tedros Ghebreyesus.

In addition, conferences, meetings, and briefings with the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, representatives of foreign health institutions, and international organizations were held online in order to study the world experience. World Health Organization (WHO) managers and specialists carry out systematic monitoring of the situation aimed at preventing the spread of infectious diseases in the country.

The foreign trade turnover of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan amounted to $65 million from January through September 2019.

Branches of the leading companies of Tatarstan, such as KAMAZ, Tatneft, and IED-Holding, operate in Turkmenistan.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan and Russia's Tatarstan Republic have discussed the construction of various types of ships aimed at the development of a merchant fleet on April 6, 2020.

In general, Turkmenistan devotes attention to cooperation with Russia’s regions and cities, in particular with Tatarstan, Astrakhan, and Saint Petersburg.
