Iran equips agricultural areas in Tehran Province with modern irrigation systems

A total of 5,000 hectares of the agricultural area in the northern Iranian province of Tehran have been equipped with modern irrigation systems from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to December 22, Director of Tehran Province Agriculture Department, Amin Roushani said, Trend reports citing the department’s website.

According to him, 185 projects have been implemented in the province in this regard.

The director added that in general, the equipment of 5,560 hectares of land in Tehran Province with modern irrigation systems is planned over the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, to March 21, 2021).

Roushani noted that at present, 69 projects are being implemented in 16 districts of Tehran to equip 4,040 hectares of land with modern irrigation systems.

“The water consumption will decrease and productivity will increase by equipping of the agricultural areas of the province with modern irrigation systems,” he said.

Iran's Ministry of Agriculture Jihad prefers the modern irrigation system to be based on micro-irrigation and drip irrigation.
