By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

It is possible to extract 40,000 tons of minerals annually in the Takab County of the West Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran), which shows that this county has great potential, said Gholamreza Babaei, Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of the West Azerbaijan Province, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

According to the chairman, there are 45 mines in the county, and more than 98 percent of the investment in the mines belongs to the private sector.

Babaei added that more than 432 billion rials (about $10.3 million) was spent on the county's mines and 433 people were employed.

“There are many minerals extracted in Takab County, including iron ore, heat-resistant soil, various non-ferrous metals and others,” he said.

The chairman noted that the minerals extracted in the county can be exported to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member countries.
