Iran’s exports through the customs of the Golestan Province (north-eastern Iran) increased by 54 percent in terms of value and 189 percent in terms of volume during the first six months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through September 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, said Ebrahim Hosseini, Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office, Trend reports citing Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
The director-general emphasized that about 209,000 tons of goods worth $72.8 million were exported through the customs of Golestan Province within 6 months.
He added that the main exported goods were dairy products, pistachios, cement, and polystyrene. These goods were mainly exported to Iraq, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Afghanistan.
Hosseini also noted that Iran imported $22 million worth of goods through the customs of Golestan Province in 6 months. The imports increased by 90 percent in terms of value and 18 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
The director-general said that the imported goods were mainly manufacturing equipment and fabric. These products were imported from Turkmenistan, China, and Turkey.
According to him, the Golestan Province's customs revenues for the reporting period amounted to 345 billion rials (about $8.22 million).
