Iran’s GTC implements pilot project on wheat planting

Iran has planted wheat on about 147,000 hectares of land in seven provinces as part of a pilot project, initiated under a contract between the Government Trading Corporation (GTC) and farmers, the Director-General of the Internal Procurement Department of the GTC Morteza Saadati Kia said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s website.

According to him, wheat was planted in Bushehr, Khuzestan, Fars, Sistan and Baluchestan, Kerman, Golestan and Hormozgan provinces.

The director general added that about 435,000 tons of wheat is expected to be harvested from the mentioned areas.

Saadati Kia noted that about 11,500 farmers have joined the pilot project so far.
