Investment in Iran's Pars Special Economic Energy Zone increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. Local investment in Iran’s Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ) in the Bushehr Province (southern Iran) increased by about 46 percent, over the last year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), the director of economic development and investment attraction of the PSEEZ, Khosro Afrouzeh said, Trend reports citing the zone’s website.

According to Afrouzeh, about 70 trillion rials (about $1.67 billion) were invested in the zone last Iranian year.

“In addition, 50 million euros were invested in Iran’s Pars Special Economic Energy Zone for last Iranian year,” he added.

The director said that by the end of the last Iranian year, the zone had the capacity to produce 32 million tons of products a year. The capacity will reach 60 million tons annually in 3 years (by March 20, 2025).

"Increasing extraction from the Iran-Qatar joint South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is one of the main goals of the PSEEZ. At present, Iran has the capacity to extract more than 40 million tons of various products, including, ethane, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), gas condensate, and sulfur per year from 24 phases of the field, "he said.

The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran's share in the field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
