Visit of IMF Securities Market Development Assistance Mission Ended

Today the visit of IMFs technical mission for sate bonds market, monetary markets and internal debts is coming to an end. The mission comprises the project regional coordinator Werner Ricke, IMF technical assistance department representative Andrea Sivero and SECO public debt project coordinator Fulami Azerbaijani.

Officials of Baku Stock Exchange told Trend IMF experts had studies the current situation in state bonds market and stated their intention to closely cooperate with the National Bank of Azerbaijan and Ministry of Finance that issue short-term notes and state short-term bonds.

These institutions are the key ones IMF will be working with under the project as they are closer to the capital market. В"International experience of secondary securities market promotion will not hurt either. The Fund experts identified the prospects of cooperation: regarding the increase of market liquidity and development of secondary marketВ", the stock exchange officials said.

The project will be funded from technical assistance grant by State Secretariat for Economic Cooperation of Switzerland (SECO), and IMF will be supervising the project itself. The project execution will be managed from IMF Technical Management Office in Bishkek and is purposed for Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
