Azerbaijan, Baku, 24 July/ Trend / The Ecological Department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has conducted a monitoring of the initial ecological situation in Umid perspective offshore field, SOCAR said on 24 July. The studies were conducted by the research ship MPK-452.
The monitoring in this area of water was conducted from 20 stations at the depth of 55 to 60 meters.
The monitoring aimed at installing new Umid-1 platform there and drilling exploratory well. Umid-1 offshore field is important for SOCAR within the realization of program on increasing oil production in the fields developed out of its own proceeds. Six gas wells are expected to be drilled from the platform. The drilling will begin by the end of 2008.
The platform Umid-1, built on the base of the unfinished Chirag-6 platform is the largest facility within the program the height of which totals to 72m. The platform will be installed 15km from Bulla Daniz offshore field at the depth of 58m.
The total indicated recoverable gas reserves in the offshore Umid field are estimated at 200bln to 300bln cu m.
