World Crisis Not Influences on Bases on Turkmen Economy, Says Turkmen President

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, 29 November / Trend corr. S.Kurbanov/ The world crisis will not seriously influence on Turkmen people, Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov, the Turkmen President said at a meeting with leaders of the Balkan region on 29 November.

Speaking about the global financial and economic crisis, which negatively influenced on economy if many countries, Berdimuhammedov stressed that the world crisis did not seriously influence on bases of the Turkmen economy, the Turkmen media reported.

Major income of the Turkmen state treasury, basically, falls on natural gas, which prices are stable high.

In accordance with the Turkmen leader's decree, earlier the Stabilization Fund was established, 2009 public budget is being estimated again, and some contracts with foreign companies are being examined subject to price cut of construction materials because of the world crisis. Moreover, some measures have been planned, including modernization of oil refinery enterprises, temporarily cut of excises for petrol and diesel fuel, conducting buyup of highly profitable assets abroad, including placing Turkmen diplomatic missions.
