Kazakh oil via BTC to decrease in March

The U.S.-Kazakh joint venture Tengizchevroil will dispatch 600,000 barrels of oil from the Turkish Ceyhan port in March. The oil is produced at the Kazakh Tengiz field. A total of 1.2 million barrels of Kazakh oil will be pumped via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline in February.

According to the dispatch schedule provided by the Energy Intelligence Group, a consignment of Tengiz oil will be dispatched from Ceyhan on March 22-24.

In 2008, ChevronTexaco began shipping oil from the Kazakh Tengiz field via Azerbaijan. The oil is transported through BTC and by railway to the Georgian ports of Batumi and Kulevi.

The ChevronTexaco-operated Tengiz field is developed by Tengizchevroil.

BTC company shareholders include: BP (30.1 percent); AzBTC (25 percent); Chevron (8.90 percent); Statoil Hydro (8.71 percent); ТРАО (6.53 percent); Eni (5 percent); Total (5 percent); Itochu (3.40 percent); Inpex (2.50 percent); ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent) and Hess (2.36 percent).

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) owns an oil terminal in Georgia's Kulevi Port on the Black Sea and KazMunayGaz owns an oil terminal in Batumi.
