Construction of floating oil storage under Lukoil's order completes in Baku

The Russian oil company Lukoil gained a new multipurpose vessel Langepas to work in the Caspian Sea, the company said on Aug.5. The vessel was built at the Singapore shipyard Keppel Singmarine.

Supposed that, Langepas will move from Singapore on Aug.6 and arrive in the Caspian Sea on Sept.3-4 to carry out safe and rescue operations in the offshore oil and gas projects of Lukoil.

The length of the vessel is 65 meters, width about 15 meters, depth - 4,3 m, deadweight tonnage - 900 tons, speed - 13 knots. The ship can operate in temperatures to -20 degrees Celsius and in ice thickness of 70 centimeters. Home Port of the vessel is Kaliningrad.

At present, work on construction and arrangement of the Yuri Korchagin field in the Caspian perform support vessels, including Tsarevskiy, Gandurinskiy, Svetliy and Vzmorye owned by LUKoil-Kaliningradmorneft. The ship Kogalym will join them soon.

The construction of the floating oil storage with deadweight of 28,000 tons, which will become part of maritime cargo complex to deliver oil from the Yuri Korchagin field to onshore facilities, is completing in the shipyard Keppel Singmarine in Baku under the Lukoil's order.

Commission of the first North-Caspian field, Yuri Korchagin, is scheduled for December 2009. The field is located 180 kilometers far from Astrakhan and 240 kilometers far from Makhachkala. The depth of the sea near the field is 11-13 meters. The reserves of the field by 3R category estimated at 570 million barrels. The maximum level of oil and gas condensate is 2.3 million tons per a year and 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas per a year.
