Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept .25 / Trend /

Use of underwater wells to pump water into the deep part of the Guneshli field under the contract on development of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields reflected the increase of oil production in the shallow-water portion of the field. SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) develops the field independently, the company said.

The production increased to 100 tons of oil per day at some wells, the same source added. However, the company did not mention the total increase.

The oil production at the deep portion of the Guneshli field was launched in mid-2008. There are 17 wells (9 oil and 8 water pumping) are under operation.

The sides to the production sharing agreement on the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli fields are BP (operator- 34.14 percent), ChevronTexaco (10.2 percent), SOCAR (10 percent), INPEX (10 percent), Statoil Hydro (8.56 percent), ExxonMobil (8.01 percent), TPAO (6.75 percent), Devon (5.63 percent), Itochu (3.92 percent) and Delta Hess (2.72 percent). Required investments total $20 billion.
