The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) (excluding joint ventures and operating companies) drilled 58,198 meters in January-May compared to 80,109 meters for the same period of 2009, SOCAR said.
Of a total drilling, 56,355 meters fell to production drilling and 1,843 meters - exploration drilling (462- search drilling meters in 2008).
In May, the company drilled about 12,750 meters compared to 14,968 meters in May 2009.
In 2009, SOCAR drilled 168.200 meters compared to about 203,000 meters in 2008. In 2007 this figure was 190,376 meters.
