Azerbaijani President today took part at the ceremony of groundbreaking of the Balakan-1 hydroelectric power station, AzerTaj state news agency reported.
President of Azrenergy Etibar Pirverdiyev informed the president on parameters of the facility, built under the order of Azerbaijan president dated November 16, 2009. It is also a part of the program on construction of small hydroelectric power stations.
The station will produce 10 mln kwh energy annually, which makes up 25 percent of the region's electricity consumption.
