Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 26 / Trend D.Khatinoglu E.Ismayilov /

The Azerbaijani Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents did not issue certificates for import of gas furnaces of the Iranian production in 2010, Committee Spokesman Fazil Talibli told Trend on Tuesday.

He said if even there are gas furnaces of the Iranian production in the Azerbaijani market, they were brought to the country illegally and the committee is investigating the facts.

Talibli also noted that the Committee issued the relevant permissions in 2009 only to three Iranian gas furnaces producers. The committee tested their products, verified the existence of instructions in the Azerbaijani language and their labeling in the Azerbaijani language, and then issued the permissions. However, the term of the permissions had already expired.

The committee received appeals on the issuance of permission from six companies, but the committee refused to issue the permission due to their non-compliance with the standards.

The control over the import of gas furnaces of the Iranian production to Azerbaijan was enhanced after numerous gas explosions occurred in houses in 2009. The monitoring revealed gas appliances, including gas furnaces of the Iranian production that do not meet quality standards and pose a threat to the lives of their users.
