Iranian delegation led by Deputy Oil Minister, Chairman of the National Gas Company of Iran Javad Oudzhi, has arrived In Ashgabat to discuss cooperation in oil and gas industry, said newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan on Friday

Issues on priority directions and perspectives of traditional cooperation were addressed in meetings with representatives of the Turkmen government

Emphasizing the importance of the colossal potential synergy in the energy sector, as the most striking in extending full intergovernmental dialogue, the participants noted mutual readiness for further intensification of collaboration in this direction.

In particular, Oudzhi expressed desire of his country in enhancing the productive partnership based on a foundation of the
traditional friendship between the two neighboring peoples.

According to official Turkmen sources, in connection with the introduction of a new gas transportation system between the Turkmen Dovletabad field and the Iranian settlement in Sangbast currently a new contract for more purchase and sale of Turkmen gas is being preparing

Under the project, the pipeline will provide an opportunity to increase deliveries to 12 billion cubic meters of gas annually. Given the current gas pipeline Korpedzhe-Kurtkui to the west of Turkmenistan "Iran will be able to annually purchase in Turkmenistan 20 billion cubic meters of gas.in Turkmenistan

New supplies are designed to meet the needs of fuel north-eastern Iran, in particular, in the province of Semnan
Mazandaran, Golestan, Khorasan-Rezavi, North Khorasan, and South Khorasan.

The project was implemented within the framework of an agreement signed in July 2010 between such agencies as the state concern Turkmengaz and Iran national gas company. The parties agreed to increase export of Turkmen natural gas to Iran  from 8 bcm to 14 billion cubic meters in 2010, and in the long term - up to 20 billion cubic meters of fuel a year.

In addition, the supply and payment settlement for electricity were discussed with the Iranian side. Project on increase of the supply of Turkmen electricity to neighboring provinces of Iran is being  studied between the countries

In accordance with national socio-economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2011-2030 years. electricity production of the country will reach 25.5 billion kilowatt hours per year and its export will increase up to over 11 billion kilowatt hours per year. In September 2010, the government has said that Turkmenistan will be systematically increasing its supply of electricity to Iran Afghanistan and the Republic of Turkey.
