The volume of production of Iranian petrochemical industry in the first eight months of the current fiscal year (started March 21) has exceeded 30 million tons.

Ali Mohammad Basaqzadeh, an official with the National Petrochemical Company, said that the figure has increased by three percent compared to the same period last year.

Iran's petrochemical industry has produced 30.8 tons of products in the mentioned period while 9.4 million tons was consumed domestically and 12.5 million tons was exported, Shana news agency reported Nov. 25.

According to him the export figure has hiked by eight percent compared to the same period last year.

He said that petrochemical companies located in the port city of Mahshahr have produced more than 12 million ton of products while he estimated that the figure will reach 18 million ton by the end of current fiscal year.

He further added that Bandar-e Imam Khomeini, Maroun, Karoun, Laleh, Ghadir, Rejal and Farabi petrochemical companies produced the highest amount compared to other companies.

On November 26 the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) reported that export volume of the country's non-oil sector including gas condensate for the first eight months of the current fiscal year stood at $ 29.632 billion dollars. According to the IRICA 35 percent of the announced figure belonged to petrochemical products.

Iran has dramatically increased its gas export capacity, in preparation for the lifting of financial and economic sanctions imposed by the west.

Iran expects that a July nuclear deal reached with the world powers, under which most of its nuclear sanctions will be removed in return for scaling down its nuclear program, to be implemented at the first quarter of coming year.
