Georgia is going to build an underground gas storage on the territory of the Gardabani municipality, Trend reports with reference to commersant.ge.

The project will be implemented in two stages. First, corresponding infrastructure will be created and necessary equipment will be installed to connect the underground gas pipeline to the main 8-km long gas pipeline. Then, an overhead electricity transmission line of 110 kW, which will connect components of the project to the network of the electricity transmission, will be constructed. The specified infrastructure will be located in the territory of Gardabani's municipality of Georgia.

It is supposed that by 2030, the demand for gas in Georgia will double, and the possible change in price will lead to the larger dependence of the economy on import. Existence of the underground gas storage shall provide reserve deliveries, which will ensure continuous import of gas and energy carriers to Georgia.
