Kazakhstan’s Kazatomprom National Atomic Company has agreed on natural uranium supplies with Argentina’s Dioxitek S.A. company, Trend reports with reference to the Kazatomprom.
The definitive commercial agreement signing was announced today, May 5, 2020.
Kazatomprom said that it has won a Dioxitek’s public tender to supply natural uranium concentrate for the needs of the Argentinian nuclear power industry in Feb. 2020.
“This agreement emphasizes the geographic diversity of the company’s contract portfolio, and strengthens the company’s presence in South America. It also marks the renewal of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Argentina, and it is indicative of the company’s strong reputation as the supplier of choice to the global nuclear fuel market,” the Kazatomprom said.
Kazatomprom is the world's largest producer of uranium, with the company’s attributable production representing approximately 23 percent of global primary uranium production in 2018.
The company benefits from the largest reserve base in the industry and operates, through its subsidiaries, JVs and Associates, 26 deposits grouped into 13 mining assets. All of the company’s mining operations are located in Kazakhstan.
Dioxitek S.A. is involved in the procurement and manufacturing of nuclear fuel for reactors in Argentina. As one of the country’s national companies, it is owned by the Argentinian Ministry of Energy, National Atomic Energy Commission, and the Government of the Province of Mendoza.
