Renewables to play key role in energy sector's dev't, Iranian expert says

The current activities of the Iranian Ministry of Energy are to increase the capacity of alternative energy, as well as to create the availability of alternative energy, which will improve the living conditions of the population and purify the atmosphere, Deputy Minister of Energy of Iran, Head of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization Mohammad Satkin said Trend reports.

Satkin made the remark at the Baku International Energy Charter Forum on the “Transition to renewable energy sources in electricity production, transport, heating, and cooling: current challenges and trends”, held on October 28.

The event was organized jointly with the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy and the International Energy Charter.

Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, Secretary-General of the International Energy Charter Urban Rusnak, Energy Policy Director of the Directorate-General for Energy Cristina Lobillo Borrero, and other representatives of the International Energy Charter took part at the event.

During the event, Mohammad Satkin said that 738 megawatts of produced alternative energy is used in the private sector of Iran.

“Renewables will play a key role in the development of the future energy sector, and our common task is to improve energy security and reduce harmful emissions into the environment,” the deputy minister added.
