French Air Liquide to produce, supply technical gases to Atyrau refinery in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGas National Company (KMG) and French Air Liquide agreed on supplies of industrial technical gases to Atyrau refinery, which is a subsidiary of KMG, Trend reports citing KMG.

The project on the supplies will be implemented through the joint venture of the two companies - Air Liquide Munay Tech Gases LLP (ALMTG).

Production of up to 200 million cubic meters of hydrogen and 50 million cubic meters of nitrogen annually is planned within the framework of the reached agreement.

Furthermore, these agreements involve the transfer of digital technologies, practices to optimize energy consumption, improve the technical reliability of equipment and production efficiency.

With this in mind, hydrogen and nitrogen production units will be connected to the Air Liquide Intelligent and Innovation Center in Brussels (Belgium). The total investment from Air Liquide will amount to 86 million euros, 65 million euros of which will account for the project at the Atyrau refinery.

Air Liquide Munay Tech Gases LLP (ALMTG) is a joint venture between Air Liquide and national oil company KazMunayGas (KMG). The headquarter of the company is located in Nur-Sultan. Currently the business is focused on supplying hydrogen, nitrogen and steam to refineries in the country with a plant located in Pavlodar.
