bp discloses plans for Gas Lift Project offshore Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.8

By Leman Zeynalova - Trend:

bp plans to start gas lift operations on Chirag platform at Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) block of oil fields offshore Azerbaijan by late 2021, bp Azerbaijan told Trend.

“The project is currently progressing as planned. We plan to complete it and start gas lift operations on Chirag by the end of the year,” said the company.

The gas lift project aims to bring high pressure gas lift facilities onto a platform to add to the lifetime of the wells and through it to the production.

The Chirag platform, which has been in operation since November 1997, is one of the six BP operated platforms to produce from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. Chirag is the only platform on the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli which did not have gas lift since the start-up.

BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) Limited is the operator on behalf of the Contractor Parties to the ACG Production Sharing Agreement. Total ACG production for the first half of 2021 was on average about 468,000 barrels per day (b/d) (about 85 million barrels or 11 million tonnes in total) from the Chirag (30,000 b/d), Central Azeri (111,000 b/d), West Azeri (118,000 b/d), East Azeri (78,000 b/d), Deepwater Gunashli (88,000 b/d) and West Chirag (43,000 b/d) platforms.

ACG participating interests are: bp (30.37 percent), SOCAR (25 percent), MOL (9.57 percent), INPEX (9.31 percent), Equinor (7.27 percent), ExxonMobil (6.79 percent), TPAO (5.73 percent), ITOCHU (3.65 percent), ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL) (2.31 percent).
