SOCAR Specialists Participate in International Oil Conference

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / The 8th International Conference and Exhibition on the assimilation of oil and gas resources of the Russian Arctic and the CIS Continental shelf RAO/CIS OFFSHORE 2007 was opened on 11 September in St. Petersburg with the participation of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR). The event will continue until 13 September.

This conference is held with the organizational support from the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources, the Federal Agency for Natuyre Utilization, Gasprom, LUKOIL, Rosneft, the Scientific-Research Institute of Natural Gas and Gas Technologies, North Sea Oil and Gas and exhibition union RESTEK.

RAO/CIS Offshore is held in St. Petersburg at the initiative of the Russian Government since 1993. Over 800 specialists at the conference from all over the world discuss legislative, standard and legal basis, prospects and outcomes of assimilation, development of oil and gas fields in the Russian Arctic and in the continental shelf of the CIS. There are also plans to present projects on the exploitation of oil and gas fields in the Barents, Caspian and Black Seas, Obsk and Tazov Gubi, technique and technologies of the Arctic and offshore fields, offshore oil and gas fields, semi-submersible rigs and ice devices. A special round table has been dedicated to prospective developments by young scientists and students and the training of specialists in the oil and gas sector.

The participants in the exhibition are the world renowned Russian and foreign companies involved in the development offshore fields and assimilations of the hydrocarbon shelf, namely Gasprom, Gasprom Oil, Lukoil, Rosneft, Exxon Mobil, Norsk Hydro ASA, Statoil ASA, Aker Kvaerner, North Sea Oil and Gas, the Black Sea Oil and Gas, Shell, BP Sakhalin Energy, Kellogg Brown and Root, FMC Technologies and Petro-alliance.
