Investment in mining sector of Iran's Semnan Province booming

The investment in the mining sector of the Semnan Province (northern Iran) increased by 8 times during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through July 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, an official of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Semnan Province, Ali Akbar Alikhani told reporters, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

The official stressed that a total of 570 billion rials (about $13.5 million) has been invested in the province’s mining sector within the mentioned period.

“As a result of this investment, 14 mining enterprises were put into operation and 125 people were employed in the Semnan Province,” he added.

Alikhani also noted that 15 licenses on exploration operations were issued in Semnan Province over the 4 months.

According to him, there are currently more than 620 mining enterprises operating in Iran’s Semnan Province. These enterprises can produce 22 million tons of minerals a year.

The official said that the mineral reserves of Semnan Province are more than 620 million tons. Gypsum, salt stone, celestine, zeolite, coal, copper, iron ore, chromite, sodium sulfate, limestone are the main minerals extracted.
