In January – August 2021, most of the calculations in the trade turnover of Azerbaijan were made in freely convertible currency, Trend reports, referring to the report of the State Customs Committee (SCC).
Settlements in freely convertible currency for export operations increased by $2.06 billion, or 38.5 percent, from $5.3 billion to $7.4 billion (57.2 percent of all types of export settlements).
Settlements in freely convertible currency for import operations in the reporting period increased by $429 million (7.5 percent), amounting to $6.1 billion (83.52 percent of all types of import settlements) against $5.7 billion in 2020.
By the beginning of September, settlements in manat currency for Azerbaijan's export operations increased from 11.9 million manat ($7 million) year-on-year (0.15 percent more than over the same period of 2020).
In import operations, this indicator, having increased by 13 percent, reached 528.5 million manat ($310.8 million), compared to 468 million manat ($275.2 million) in 2020.
The number of other export transactions increased by $1 billion, or 22.6 percent, reaching $5.5 billion, compared to $4.4 billion over the same period of 2020.
The share of other export transactions amounted to 42.6 percent of all types of settlements against 45.5 percent from January through August 2020.
For import operations in this category, an increase of $140.5 million, or 27.6 percent, was recorded – from $510 million to $650.1 million. The share of such transactions in all types of import settlements was 8.85 percent.
Azerbaijani exports amounted to $12.9 billion from January through August 2021, increasing by 31 percent year-on-year.
Imports amounted to $7.3 billion, increasing by 9.8 percent over the reporting period.
