Turkey is expected to combine data processing centers, the country’s Ministry of Transport, Maritime and Communications told Trend Nov. 13.

Currently, the relevant law is being drafted.

Consolidation of data centers will save 2.2 billion liras per year, said the ministry, adding that currently, there are nine data processing centers in Turkey.

“The main centers are in Ankara and Istanbul. There are also data processing centers in the provinces of Bursa, Izmir, Eskisehir, Denizli, Antalya, Adana and Trabzon,” added the ministry.

Over the past ten years, significant achievements have been achieved in the field of broadband Internet in the country, said the ministry.

Currently, 64.4 million subscribers use Internet services in Turkey, according to the ministry.

The number of Internet users increased by 20.1 percent in Turkey in the first two quarters of 2017 as compared to the same period of 2016.
