Turkey tests new shipping route from Marmara to Caspian seas

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 24

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

A test sea voyage in the new direction Turkey - the Caspian Sea has been carried out in transit through Azerbaijan, Trend reports citing P&O MARITIME LOGISTICS.

Reportedly, the new line will connect Turkey with the countries of Central Asia, and provide regular sea container traffic between Turkey and Azerbaijan, as well as Central Asia.

“The 'Marmara Sea - the Caspian Sea' shipping route will directly connect Turkey with the countries of Central Asia via the inland waterways of Russia,” the company said.

P&O Maritime Logistics plans to use its ships to transport large Module Carrying Vessels (MCVs) from the deep-water port of Yarimcha in Turkey near Istanbul to the Kazakh port of Aktau and the Turkmen Turkmenbashi port, noted the company.

As the logistic company stated, the ships will mainly carry food, industrial equipment, building materials, textiles, household appliances, and marble.

P&O Maritime Logistics owns and operates about 400 ships.
