BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 9
By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
Some 78.4 percent of construction work in Georgia on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway project has been completed, Trend reports citing a report of the Georgian government.
The report emphasizes that Georgia will continue to integrate into international transport systems and deepen regional cooperation to improve the competitiveness of the transit corridor.
“We plan to work with partner countries on digital provision of the transit corridor, which will increase the efficiency and sustainability of cargo transportation through Georgia,” the government program of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said.
The BTK railway was built on the basis of an Azerbaijani-Georgian-Turkish intergovernmental agreement.
BTK allows to significantly reduce the time of delivery of goods from China to Europe through Azerbaijan, which makes this route especially attractive.
