Transit of goods via Iran's land borders increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 27

The transit of goods through Iran's land borders increased by 133 percent during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of the Transit and International Affairs Department of Iran Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization (RMTO) Javad Hedayati said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

According to Hedayati, more than 4.2 million tons of goods were transited through Iran's land borders within the mentioned period.

The director general added that about 1.56 million tons of transited goods in 6 months were accounted for oil products, while 2.64 million tons for non-oil products.

“About 78 percent of transited goods were transported by Iranian trucks,” he said.
