Today Kazakhstan is positioned as an innovative leader in Central Asia, the newly appointed U.S. Ambassador Kenneth Fairfax said today at a ceremony on the 50th anniversary of USAID (U.S. Agency for International Development).
"Kazakhstan is today demonstrating itself as an innovative and progressive leader in Central Asia. And we are pleased that the USAID has made a contribution to achievements over 20 years of independence of the Republic," said Fairfax.
New U.S. Ambassador Kenneth Fairfax arrived in Kazakhstan, a source in diplomatic circles told Trend yesterday.
Before Fairfax, the acting ambassador was John Ordway.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is the United States federal government agency primarily responsible for administering civilian foreign aid. President John F. Kennedy created USAID in 1961 by executive order to implement development assistance programs in the areas authorized by the Congress in the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961.
