Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting on the current development of the country on Monday, the presidential press-service reported

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov, head of the Presidential Administration Karim Massimov, Deputy Prime Minister Kairat Kelimbetov, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Bakhyt Sultanov, Chairman of the Board of Kazakh Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna Umirzak Shukeyev and Minister of Oil and Gas Sauat Mynbayev.

The state of the banking sector, pension reform and further development of the oil and gas industry were discussed within the meeting.

Nursultan Nazarbayev said a number of measures had been taken in the banking system to reduce the external debt and ordered to continue this process. Moreover, he noted the need to take appropriate measures to improve the efficiency of the pension system, and stressed the need to take the further steps to resolve the current problems in the oil and gas sector.

The President also ordered to give up shares in the capital of BTA Bank, Alliance Bank and Temirbank in 2013.
