Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, who is on an official visit to Kazakhstan, Kazakh presidential press-service reported.
"During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of further development of Kazakh-Spanish strategic partnership. The main attention was paid to cooperation in the sphere of economy, investment, transport, industry, renewable energy, culture and other spheres," the press-service said.
Kazakh president stressed that a strategic partnership agreement was signed between the two countries. The largest Spanish companies operate in Kazakhstan and over 70 joint ventures have been created.
Spanish Prime Minister in his turn said that Spain and Kazakhstan have good relationship for a long time.
"Our companies are indeed working very successfully here. A number of representatives of Spanish companies, who wish to participate in joint activities, have come with me," he said.
During the negotiations, Nursultan Nazarbayev handed to the Spanish side some copies of documents about Spanish citizens detained in the Karaganda labor camp during World War II, which are kept in Kazakh State archive.
