BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 22. Trading volume on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) reached a cumulative value of 28.3 trillion Kazakh tenge ($63 billion) in May 2023, Trend reports.
According to the KASE, this figure is 1.2 percent or 336.3 billion Kazakh tenge ($751.8 million) more compared to April.
However, the KASE Index experienced a slight decline of 1.9 percent during May, concluding the month at 3,492.44 points. The volume of transactions involving index stocks stood at 18 billion Kazakh tenge ($40.2 million), representing a 55.5 percent decrease or 22.5 billion Kazakh tenge ($50.3 million) compared to April 2023.
Furthermore, market capitalization for stocks in May 2023 totaled 22.4 trillion Kazakh tenge ($50 billion), indicating a modest decline of 1.9 percent or 436.8 billion Kazakh tenge ($976.4 million) compared to the previous month. The decline in market capitalization primarily stemmed from adjustments in the prices of index companies' shares.
KASE Index is the ratio of included into the representative list shares market prices at the list development date to this list shares prices at a certain date, weighted on capitalization considering free-floating shares.
The historical minimum of this index was 69.48 points, while the historical maximum was 3,810.70 points.
